Also, what about the pingpong table from Uni? As far as I know it only deals with fun, and I do not believe there are any electronics in it.
I think they would both be okay before fitness is unlocked since they are technically basic types activities

Ok, one other question. What about the bicycle that came with DU? They are a little more mechanical, but they do build fitness, so not sure if they would fall under fitness equipment or not.

Sorry was looking at the store for rebate day and started seeing some of these things and started wondering about them. :D

Ok, one point of clarification that I want to verify I'm right about, although it would feel silly to require this, but for the relics/totems mini-challenge. That would just be for the 9 totems right, the 3 tops with the 3 bottoms, not all of them with the different gems put in them right? Like I said, I figure it would be silly to require that since it can take time to find the relic pieces, but I wanted to verify.

yes. I say that will all the confidence in the world, because I am still missing 2 of the complete totems with rare gems.

Ok another question, just in thinking of my future generations a bit. When you unlock the multiple children, is it still the eldest that is the heir and can you still not control the kids, or because you can do it is there some controll/choice in the matter?

I think it is your choice at that point. There isn't anything specific to choosing the heir after multiple children are unlocked, just about accidental children prior to the unlock.

Ok, a question about Patchy. He is not a maid or butler, but apparently (because he did in mine) he can help with chores as well as gardening.) Would you expect this to break the mini-challenge:

DIY: No handyman may be called at any time during the challenge; all broken appliances, plumbing, and electronics must be fixed by someone in the household. No maid or butler may be hired. Nannies are not allowed, but daycare is - you have to work, after all. 5 points

So far I have not had anyone but my playable sims repair anything, and we have not hired any sort of butler, maid, handyman, or nanny, but he does help, so should I mark this as lost? I had no idea what all he did when I added him.

no, I didn't count him as a handyman. I think the handyman and maid and gardener are hired and them come and do specific things. Patchy may help, but he doesn't always. He can be really random.

Ok, yeah that makes sense. I started to think he seems kind of like ghosts in that sense. I've had them do gardening, laundry, cleaning up, etc. Oh good, I'm glad I didn't lose those points then. :)

Exactly like ghosts. I think I interpret the mini challenge as you can't hire someone specifically, but anything volunteered by another sim is fine.

Ok, I think I remember you had the rocket ship during Gen 3. Am I correct in that, or is it supposed to unlock with computers? I was trying to determine if I should be doing the nerd brain aspiration in Gen 4 or not. I tried to look and see if we specified anywhere, but I didn't see it for sure.

I did have rocket science in gen 3. Since Astronaut was originally in gen 1, it is fair game.

Ok cool. That made sense to me, but I wanted to verify before I did it :) Lara and her husband are going to be working hard on getting some of those collections done. :D

Reading back through this, I didn't see anywhere that it was discussed. I didn't even think about it. Teen jobs, would they be allowed, not allowed, unlocked at a certain point? Without thinking, when Gen 5 became a teen and finished up the scouts she went into the Lifeguard teen job. It's just fitness and feels like it fits with the "Sports and Entertainment" type stuff of 4, but I will take points off if I shouldn't have done it.

I don't think we addressed teen jobs, so I would say to use your best judgement on which ones would fit at which point.

I'm going to start my own stab at the EPIC challenge later this week, but I have a question! I saw something somewhere in this thread about points for toddler skills, but I didn't see them mentioned in the main post with all the rules. Are they part of the official rules?

We had discussed points for skills that are maxed where the toddler doesn't reach Top Notch (I think). I never edited them in, and I used the scoring without (just the points for Happy Toddler and Top Notch Toddler as listed). As you play through it, track the points for skills that are maxed where the toddler doesn't earn Top Notch. It bears more discussion as others play through. More opinions :)

I very well may be missing it because I thought I had seen it addressed, but I am no longer sure.

Does a sim NEED a spouse? Can they have kids from multiple people and not marry them, or perhaps have some kids with other sims and then add a spouse later??? Would the all the kids be eligible for heir if you have unlocked multiple kids in that situation?? I understand it would effect the room count if you didn't add a spouse, and might hurt points some, but I wasn't sure if you were required to marry before having kids. I think there was a time where you (Teresa) had a baby with Caleb, but it might have just been to turn a sim. Let me know your thoughts on the matter.

Also, when it comes to creatures.....I know alien, vampire, ghost, and mermaid would probably all count. Are there any others? I know Patchy and Father Winter can father children with special traits, but I don't think the kids are inherently not just regular sim at that point, they just get special traits. I think the same is probably true for Spellcasters right? They are still inherently sims, just can have babies with inherited traits. Also, even though it isn't a permanent state in the game, would getting a plant sim at any time count??

I'm getting ready to wrap up generation 5 and am looking at bringing in creatures for the last generations I've got going, so I wanted to check. This has been a super fun challenge!
