The Apocalypse Challenge: The Movie May 4 Update

Post by BlueBerryPie »

Transferring this over from the previous site. Just a quick copy paste. It has been a long time since I've updated this due to obtaining a new computer, but I hope to get back into it and not leaving it in the current state.

Greetings folks. I hereby present to you my latest attempt on the Apocalypse challenge. I will be using the base challenge rules and as such have only installed up to Open for Business. What might make this challenge stand out is how it is presented: rather than reading a blog or slideshow presentation, this challenge is presented in video format. So sit back and enjoy the show. And don't be afraid to give feedback, I've got a thick skin.

The Indere Family (Second Attempt)

Part 01 - Frank Indere
Part 02 - I'm not happy, Bob.
Part 03 - Put it back on the hook.
Part 04 - Wake up!
Part 05 - Oh, we're sorry, dude!
Part 06 - DUDE! Don't mess with me.
Part 07 - Clean everything up.
Part 08 - They were gonna start a tsunami.
Part 09 - Don't just let him go.
Part 10 - Pause and get it done.

Part 08 - You almost deserve that chair
Part 09 - It's all about the beanie
Part 10 - Now hope for a promotion
Part 11 - Hold on, Komeii, hold on!
Part 12 - Excuse me, I'm speaking here, Uma
Part 13 - Recycle that and recycle that...
Part 14 - She has now learned to levitate.
Part 15 - Yay... yay. We're rich.
Part 16 - We can't do leap in arms because of athletic
Part 17 - Do the makeout. All right!
Part 18 - What do you mean you have off today?
Part 19 - But we were so close
Part 20 - We're gonna do the birth cutscene
Part 21 - I expect results, Dan
Part 22 - Say good-bye to Goopy
Part 23 - Bam and bam!
Part 24 - Ah, now it's time for aging
Part 25 - Komeii, you broke the sink
Part 26 - I think Mellisa is a scientist
Part 27 - No, that's 'Born to be Wild'
Part 28 - Since we're here, we're gonna save
Part 29 - Read my big ol' notebook
Part 30 - Change the diaper! Hurry!
Part 31 - That is, as they say, is that.
Part 32 - This is aggravating!
Part 33 - Let's play red hands.
Part 34 - So angry. Who we angry at again?
Part 35 - By the way, do you remember that cow man who...

Through a mixture of a new computer causing issues with The Sims 2, motivation hitting rock bottom, and a minor broken rule, I have made the decision to start over.

I present to you the beginning of The Apocalypse Challenge: The Movie: The Sequel starring The Indere Family.

Part 01 - Frank Indere

Oh, yay! First on my to-do list tonight once I get settled at home :bounce:

EDIT: I would prefer if Frank skips  straight to the Apocalypse!

Spoiler:
. :ouch too bad, that it didn't work out with the Castors - definitely a fun ride!

- but in a way, that's part of the flair of an apocalypse challenge: everybody dies, rules broken even without purpose kill the mood to continue... subplots... :banghead:

- so it's really uplifting thing that you just start over! Rock on! :woot:

Oh, hi there. Its been.... a while.. This is interesting, the titles you are using, funny. Anyway, I can understand distraction... and I don't think I'd be happy either with Bob.

Oooh, a video now... good job, seems like a lot of people are going video, I have to say, you did really good on the audio production of this part. Wow, I've been away from sims 2 for a while... o.o Hopefully will keep track of this. Don't give up, ever.

Spoiler:
It's funny, watching you play I keep wanting to hit three to make it go faster and it's not even on my computer. You know you're addicted when that happens. And I remember those junior novelizations of movies, only I had the Michael Cricton full book of Jurassic Park and the Lost World. Also I was 10 when the movie came out in 1993. The book's ending for Lost World had nothing about the T-rex escaping in San Francisco that was a fabrication made for the movie. The book ended with them finding a boat while running from raptors to escape into the water. Rarely do movies stay true to the books as you said about the Giver, haven't read it myself however.

I'm just amazed that you're able to do this. Playing while talking and capturing it all, and dealing with it all on the fly. I'm a pause-maniac. Also, I have no idea how to do youtube videos, so that alone impresses me. Seriously, the way you can just keep playing while you narrate amazes me.

So, I'm starting over with Frank Indere (and that character creation bit made me guffaw!), and will confine my comments to that, as I keep up with the postings, because it will take forever to binge-watch the whole original series, although I did see a few of them months ago, but lost my place. And I just have to ask - does anyone else keep reaching for their mouse to click on things, and try to give commands to this guy? I have a different play-style, and I keep wanting to impose it on the video. LOL. I'm such a backseat driver. "No, Frank! Don't do that. Do this other thing, instead. Wait! PAUSE!!!"

Now I remember why I stopped letting my nephew play sims on my computer. The rule was I had to be with him to supervise his computer usage, and I kept having to bite my tongue and let him play his own way, and it was maddening, when I wasn't laughing my head off at the funny things he did. Sometimes a little of both. Same thing here. I'm laughing at what you're doing, and I'm trying not to say, "But do it thiiiisss waaaay," because I'm anal-retentive.

OK, back to the videos now.
Spoiler:
WWWOOOOOOOWWWWW! That last day was FANTASTIC!!! My jaw literally dropped and I had to remind myself to close my mouth.

Also, I kept poking at my screen, trying to lock the "Make a friend" want. LOL.
I'm really enjoying your running commentary, even when it has nothing to do with what's going on with your sims. Very fun.

Here's the weekly update: Part 05 - Oh, we're sorry, dude!

Ani-Mei
Spoiler:
I have heard such comments before from other gamers, though more so in my World of Warcraft videos. They try to change the camera angle. I found out about the great differences between JP books and movies in high school. I found out that our library had the books in stock and when they were sitting on the shelf, I quickly checked them out.
Lorinsv
Spoiler:
Talking while gaming isn't always something new to me, but it's definitely was new to try to keep speaking to an audience instead of simply reacting to the game at all times. A lot of my earlier youtube videos I'm mostly just mumbling to myself and reacting to what the games are presenting to me. It took a lot of effort to remember to do more than that. I've learned from another youtuber that jotting down conversational topics to refer to helps a lot. What also helps me is recording when no one else is in the house, that way I can get as loud and crazy as I can. I end up getting more quiet and reserved otherwise.
MichelleCYoung
Spoiler:
Thanks for watching. :) A lot of what I said to Lorin correlates to what you commented on in case you're curious about how I'm able to do the whole game and talk thing. I can understand on the backseat gaming. I remember watching my sister play The Sims, SimCity3000, and other games. I'd just hover around and think to myself why she made all the 'mistakes' that she did.

I just watched Part 5, and thought, "Wait, why is he studying mechanical? What job is he going for, again? I don't remember anything!"

I liked those kid book clubs, too.

Between the base rules and your reading reminiscences, your Apocalypse is pretty darn relaxing to watch.
