Hope in Dumpsters - Updated October 2019 *On Hiatus*

Mods, I'm pretty sure this wasn't a Boolprop Challenge, although initially, I was thinking it was so please move if it is supposed to go elsewhere. :cover:

I know, I know, I'm a glutton for punishment. I was trying to play my SimNaNo hood yesterday and I just couldn't get into the family I was playing, so instead, I was reading through other SimNaNo blogs, and found this challenge. It's short, which makes me happy, and sounded like fun without a ton of rules to keep track of. So I created a sim, moved her in and got started on trying this challenge. I'm almost through the first week (or a 1/3 of the challenge) but the rest might wait until I'm done with SimNaNo, we will see what happens.

Anyway, this is the Hope in Dumpsters challenge, featuring Bobbie Hope. Her updates are below, or you can go to her homepage and read from there.

Thanks sueplaysims! It is a really random challenge and super fun to play! Plus, it's short, so I'll have to decide what to do with Bobbie when it's done. Thanks for checking it out!

Hey! This is my challenge! Yes, it is a lot of fun, and simple to play. You can spend most of your time on triple speed, so it's fast, as well. And it's pretty amazing to me just what you actually can find in the dumpsters. Some of it is REALLY valuable, like high-grade televisions and even high-level sculptures. Also worthless things like cockroaches, but the vast majority is worth at least a few dollars. It's amazing, at the end of the day, just how lucrative it can be.

Here's a hint: If you have Supernatural installed, you can take those rocks to the elixir consignment shop, and cut them there. You can also put them on consignment, for a better profit. ANd sell the bugs at the science center, instead of just straight from inventory. You get a better price that way, too.

I can't believe I didn't think of sleeping at the fire department when I did my first play-through. But it's a favorite trick of mine, now, as well.

Ooohh...good to know about the science center being where to take the bugs. I have found SO MANY bugs, and quite a few gems and stuff. I am very sad I got rid of the food processor I found the first day, but I couldn't afford the counter to put it on so it got sold.

It has been a very fun challenge. Now I just have to decide what to do with her after. I need to get back to this challenge too. lol

After much looking and debating on where I want to take Bobbie after we have finished the initial chapter, I have decided to transition her over into a DITFT (Differences in the Family Tree). So once she has completed her 21 days of dumpster diving we will transition her into one of the Generations. I believe I am actually going to start with Generation 10, but I will make a final decision when we get closer. There will be an update coming on Tuesday. I am going to try and keep updates coming most Tuesday's for this hood, but I beg you not to hold me too strictly to that, but I will try. :)

Ok, after too much time I have played some more of our little Bobbie Hope's dumpster diver challenge. Her most recent update can either be found in the original post or right below. I hope you enjoy it and look for updates to this family/challenge to show up on Tuesdays moving forward. It might not be every Tues, but if there is an update that's when it will happen. :)

It really is fun to play, and very interesting to see what you can pull out of the dumpsters in TS3. lol Although, it doesn't always make more the most interesting updates if you focus only on the diver themselves. :P

The house is really coming along nicely. And she's collected so many gems. Soon, she'll be ready for the heart cut. It is super-valuable! Well done! I look forward to seeing more.

By the way, I really like your people watching, and trying to figure out what they are all up to. My favorite was
Spoiler:
the cat thinking of a disguise when the Private Investigator came in. LOL!
Oh, and don't give up hope. It is perfectly possible to dig up beds and stoves, even fairly high-level ones. I've dug up the strangest things, including one of each type of stereo and several top-level statues.

Thanks, I'm happy with how the house is coming along so far. I will probably fix it up when I get to the end, but I needed places to put all the stuff she keeps digging up. I know you can get beds I just haven't been lucky enough yet. :) I'll get there I'm sure. I'm glad you enjoyed the people watching, there is only so long you can watch your sims legs sticking out of a dumpster all day. :D So happy I started reading snazzles Spirits blog, which made me want to try this. Now that I've finished Miki's blog it makes me want to try it with a Runaway teen like they did. lol You made a very fun challenge!

Thanks! I enjoyed it. I even want to play it again. It's actually short enough to actually finish!

I agree! That's the whole reason I started it because I knew I would actually be able to finish this one. :D I hope to get some outdates out for it again soon. Been sort of caught up in my EPIC lately.

So many things that have been found. It is amazing what sims will throw away lol. I am sure it is the same for people.

It is pretty amazing what all can be found in dumpsters. I find it funny the "standard" things that are common to be found. I feel like they were the thing everyone ran out to buy and then it didn't do it for them so they tossed it. :)

This challenge looks so much fun. Bobbie looks like an interesting sim. I am interested in seeing your DITFT when it happens. It's so crazy all the random things she finds.

Thanks, Bobbie is a pretty interesting sim to me. I like her, and the DITFT should be a lot of fun, we'll see how it goes. I'm glad you are enjoying it, and the challenge was a hoot, and decently short so I could have finished it a lot faster if I wanted to. :)
