A Bookish Legacy - update May 9, 2021 (Completed!)

Post by Anne »

Hi and welcome to A Bookish Legacy! I wanted a naming theme for my legacy and since I'm a big bookworm I went with names of authors I admire or whose books I love (or loved as a child). Hence the name of this legacy! I’ve decided to go for the firstborn rule, which means the firstborn child is always the heir.

Oh yay, another literature themed legacy!!
Spoiler:
I will admit, I've not heard any of these authors you mentioned, except Roald Dahl... Non-english authors weren't very common when I was a kid. I feel like I went from reading The Hungry Caterpillar to Roald Dahl to Cassandra Clare to Jane Austen LOL. It's really nice how much you loved these amazing authors from when you were a kid, I can't remember any authors from when I was a kid and that kind of upset me. This legacy makes me wanna go back and look up books I used to read as a kid...

I really like Guus' flaming red hair and how CUTE are those pets in TS4. Ugh, I love pets in TS4 so much, they just look precious!
Looking forward to the next gen!!

Thanks for your kind comment! I love literature themed legacies as well, so I'm going to check out yours right after typing this comment!
Spoiler:
I still own a ton of the books I used to read when I was little, so I think that's mostly why I remember them - they're still there! I'm currently rereading a book I'm sure I've read as a child, but I have no recollection of the story whatsoever. It's a Dutch children's book that's been made into an English tv show that's going up on Netfix on Friday (hence why I'm rereading it). It's also been translated: The Letter for the King, by Tonke Dragt. So far I'm loving it again!

The TS4 pets are just amazing - they're so much better than the TS3 one and I think I even like them better than the TS2 pets!
What with the social isolation going on, I think I'll have more time for Sims stuff, so I hope to have a new chapter up soon! Thanks again for the comment, it really made me smile :)

Spoiler:
"He found out Eva was a single music lover..."
Noice
""who hates children."
Not so noice.

Oh, there goes Nobuya. RIP man.

Aww Carry's so stinkin' cute!!

Whoop, Eva left. No surprise here lol.

Oh no, Astrid was next to go! RIP Astrid!!

Carry looks so worried as a child. :(

And now the cat too. Wow. This chapter has a high bodycount!

AND THEN THE MAID DIED TOO!? I'm sorry, I thought I clicked on a nice book-themed legacy, not a CallMeKevin video!! Jim Pickens is responsible for this!! LOL

Oh man, I bet your heart was racing when Carry set herself on fire!

Ah, I'm looking forward to seeing what Carry does with her turn as legacy heir!
A nice little update! Can't wait to read more :D

Thanks, Gray, I'm so glad you're enjoying my updates! :D
Spoiler:
Haha, I was actually very happy when he came across Eva because I figured it fit perfectly with Guus. I think by this point I'd already figured out I wanted him to be a single parent, just because of that mean loner thing, and Eva was the perfect sim to leave him. Yikes, that sounds harsh, lol.
Carry is just the best! <3 I love her, and she was ADORABLE as a toddler.
You're right about the body count, I'm so sorry!! The maid definitely was a weird thing to happen. But then again, who goes swimming during a blizzard??

Went ahead and read this through Anne. Loved it. Glad I'm not that only one who has been slow about doing much with Sims 4. I just can't seem to get/stay into it for long.
Spoiler:
The kid interactions with parents are cute.
Love that you picked a book theme for your legacy!
I um cracked up that the maid died because she was swimming on the job. Silly sims!
Your new heiress does look like she will be a fun heiress.

Wow, I completely forgot to respond to your comments, sorry mysterymusic!
Spoiler:
I'm so glad you're enjoying the Books! I really do love the Sims 4, but Sims 2 will always be my main love :)
Glad you're liking the theme! I'm a big reader and I wanted to use a fun naming theme for this family, so this seemed like a great fit!
It's been a while, but there's a new update: Generation 4!

Gen 4
Spoiler:
Oh my God, I can't believe I've missed so much of this legacy!

Damn, it sucks that you named your sim after such a horrible person ;; Hopefully Joanne is a nicer person in soul and spirit than her namesake :)

Oh boy, alien baby! I only have alien babies when I force sims to be abducted when I'm playing my evil sim. It's so much fun just watching them get whizzed up into the air without any idea.

I guess fitness sims just like to eat cake more because they know they'll burn it off later or something. Maybe it motivates him to work out lmfao!?
Gen 5 part 1
Spoiler:
Aw Ashaya seems like such a nice young man! Pfft, sounding a bit like a grandma here.

Carry aged so gracefully!

Holy crap Joanne worked so hard she lit the bar on fire!

omg a proposal next to a waterfall!? Joanne's so lucky :O

Carry was waiting for them to come home ;;
Looking forward to reading more!! I wonder how Joanne and Ashaya's kids will turn out!!

Whoops! I know I read your comment when you posted it, but apparently I forgot to reply!
Spoiler:
Joanne definitely turned out to be a much better person!
Haha, Grandma Gray has a nice ring to it! But you're right about Ashaya - he's my favourite heir to date, I think. :)

Spoiler:
Paul just looks so unperturbed at the dinner table whilst his sister and brother in law are just like bruh

Woooo! twins!

Omggg puppy!! Named Arthur awwww ;;

Yeah, i think it's just cus sims go straight to cooking even if the fridge is stocked with leftovers.

OMG THE POODLE! I adore how cute the pets are in this game. It's why I prefer TS4 pets expansion to TS2 and TS3. They just look so cute!

Oh my God, Jill is so PRETTY I can't believe it!

Oh wow, the pets age up really quickly. I don't think the kids were that old when he was a puppy either...

JOANNEEEEEE! I can't believe she kicked it first what a surprise!

Hooray! Well done from getting over the halfway point. I've noticed that's where a lot of simmers give up!

Can't wait to see what Jill brings to the next generation! :D

Spoiler:
I have to admit, I wasn't sorry to see Paul go - he wasn't my favourite by a long shot
I totally agree with you on the pets in Sims 4! They're just so adorable. I love Sims 2 pets too, but the Sims 4 ones are definitely next level cute :) But they definitely do age up really quickly. I guess it's a bit more realistic, but it's also quite sad!
RIGHT?! I think Jill might be the prettiest Sim I've ever played in the Sims 4! She's so gorgeous!
I'm so excited to be getting relatively close to the end of the challenge! Generation 7 is now a child in my game and I realised she's probably the last of the heirs to pass away before the end! Assuming generation 8 won't kick the bucket early.

Spoiler:
Jill is FAR too beautiful for a sim wow!

Noooo Arthur the dog! I don't like seeing a dog with my elderly dog's name die in a game lmfao. it's very morbid. I had a dog die in the game for the first time and I swear, I had to quit after cus I was just so sad...

The Knitting stuff pack is my fave no lie.

Aw yay! A new pup in the house!

Emily Bronte yesss!

Generation 7! That's amazing! You're so close to the end now!

Having a small family in this game is far better than a bigger one. they feel much cosy, especially with the dog!

Oop, looks like Emily has a guard dog heheheh

Emily looks a lot like Jill!

NOOO MORRIGAN! Not two dog deaths in one chapter! You should put a warning up next time ;; my heart can't take two dog deaths ;;

Another dog! Let's hope this one lasts to the end of the chapter!

Aw yay! I'm looking forward to Emily's generation!
Great update, Anne! :D

Gray
Spoiler:
Isn't she?! She's so gorgeous!
I'm so sorry about all the dog deaths :'( They make me so sad every time they happen - it's just TOO SOON. The most recent Book family dog has just aged up to an elder so I can already predict there'll be another dog death in the next chapter. I'M SORRY.
Seeing a pet named Arthur die was extra sad for me, too, since my guinea pig Arthur passed away this year :(
I'm having tons of fun with Emily's generation already, so hopefully that update will follow quite soon! There's still loads to play, though!
Thanks for commenting, Gray! :D
