The How-To Legacy (Complete May 23 2015)

Welcome to a new, non-point based Legacy that I've recently started. The whole premise is that it is a "How-To Guide" for completing a legacy with each generation being a "Volume." For each generation that reaches adulthood, I will install an expansion pack and add in those features as they correspond to how others play their legacies. University was already installed on the laptop I am using for this, so all I could really do was play around it while raising generation two.

This isn't meant to be a serious work or well-written. It's just the documentation of what I have played. Years ago, when I was doing Legacies, my biggest problem was that I tried to build a story like some of the more well-known writers. That didn't pan out well for me because everything would just get too complicated. My other issue is that I was so used to playing with cheat codes on that I forgot how to really play. This Legacy is a back to the basics for me because I am not turning on any cheats codes. I find I'm not getting as bored as quickly because I constantly have to send a sim to fill their needs instead of just having them learn skills and go to work.

Volume One - Base Game
Volume Two - University Alternate Link
Volume Three - Nightlife
Volume Four - Open for Business
Volume Five - Pets
Volume Six - Seasons
Volume Seven - Bon Voyage
Volume Eight - Freetime
Volume Nine - Apartment Life
Spoiler:
Just a quick note, here is how it will be broken down:
Base Game - Generation One having Two (just play) :check:
University - Generation Two having Three (must send G3 kids to college) :check:
Nightlife - Generation Three having Four (must have a pleasure sim/will keep having kids until one rolls a 6) :check:
Open for Business - Generation Four having Five (must open a business and reach level 10) :banghead: (only made it to Level 7 so far)
Pets - Generation Five having Six (must have a pet grow up with generation six) :check:
Seasons - Generation Six having Seven (must have at least one perfect plant) :check:
Bon Voyage - Generation Seven having Eight (must take main house on a family vacation) :check:
Freetime - Generation Eight having Nine (max a new hobby skill) :check:
Apartment Life - Generation Nine having Ten (max the witch skill) :check:

Really enjoying this!
Spoiler:
First chapter was hilarious! Especially the Step 69: Teehee 69! Also, plenty of custom content out there, you just have to dig around for it.

Taylor's a rather interesting mix of his parents! And I do find Kaylynn's eyes look a bit strange on toddlers, but they grow into - Andrea is proof of that! I don't remember the last time I had a social bunny!

Keep up the good work! :)

For some reason it doesn't want to play or even move for me when I try to read it. Anyone else have that problem? o_0?

Thank you for reading, Mauricette and Sam :)
Spoiler:
As far as custom content goes, I went on a spree last night to get some. Modthesims was being jerky by not letting me download a few old files, specifically HystericalParoxysm's hairs. I know I could by-pass it if I could find a sim with a huge family tree to download into the game via a lot (I did that back in the old days with a couple legacy houses that were uploaded on the exchange).

Hi

Woot~ Another chapter.
If I remember correctly (for future use), Uni sims can sleep on the ground or is it the floor if there's flooring? I haven't done it in years though.
I think they're cute! :D

It would only work for me once I logged in. I don't remember it ever dong that before. :(

Thanks for the tip, Becca :)

As for being unable to read on slideshare, I've both confirmed my email (which I should have done two days ago) and am in the process of uploading it to authorstream. I'm not sure if there are any other sites I could try just in case :/

Bump

Volume 3

Hopefully you can access my slideshare. As far as the custom content goes, I will add more into my game as I go along. I don't want to overload it because I do have to get all the way to apartment life :P

I have had all the EP's for so long I've forgotten what it's like to not have half the features. Interesting take though. Will keep popping in from time to time.

Thank you, Rosanna. This has been something I've been trying to start for years, but kept pushing back (mainly because I wanted to rotate through all the houses in the pre-made neighbourhoods).

@Ani-Mei, thank you for checking it out :)

Spoiler:
There are methods of fixing busted templates, but it involves downloading the fixes from MATY and messing around with SimPE.
Another great chapter, and congrats on getting halfway through!
