Easter 2019
The Boolprop Easter Egg Challenge.

Image

I can just imagine that you are all sitting there licking your lips!!
The word Easter Egg conjures up the image of chocolate.
Chocolate!!
No!! Back off choc-a-holics!!!
I'm sorry to disappoint you,
but this is not a chocolate eating challenge!!

:duck:

This challenge is all about VIRTUAL Easter Eggs!!!

Virtual Easter Egg, are programmed into computer software and media, intentionally created as an in-side joke.
They are left throughout the media, in the form of a hidden message, a pun, an image.

In The Sims series of games, we have many virtual Easter Eggs,
just sitting there for us to see, whether you have noticed them or not, or understand their significance.
Easter Eggs within our Sims game, are reminding us of the past, and hinting at the future,
as well as referring to many other things.

Here you will find A List of Easter Eggs hidden within The Sims Series
This list is about to become your best friend ... because you are going to need to refer to it, to do our challenge.

Image

The Challenge

Take a young adult sim, through your game, collecting as many Easter Eggs as they can, during their lifetime in addition to raising their own little family!
The challenge ends when the Grim Reaper comes to collect them, either prematurely or due to old age.
The Goals
Image Collect/Complete/Encounter as many Easter Eggs as you can before your chosen founder dies. Only your chosen founder can "collect/earn/encounter" the Easter Eggs for points!
Image Starting from nothing, your chosen founder must build a life, family, and collect those Easter Eggs!
Image Your sim will raise between 1-6 children, randomized off a dice roll, and named festively.
Image Collect as many points as possible and avoid the penalties!

The Rules
Image No cheating! This means no money cheats, or other. Build cheats are fine and cheats to get unstuck are certainly fine. No cheats to gain advantage!
Image Same goes for the use of mods - don't use mods that would give you the advantage.
Image Founder can be a: Townie, Pre-Made/Pre-Skilled, CAS Sim, but you may lose points depending on your start! See individual games for details.
Image ALL build/buy Easter Eggs must be obtained in the first week of playing and held through the duration of the challenge to count for points!
Image ALL "take a photo of x" Easter Eggs must be done so in a way that includes your founding sim, if possible. Some will not be and that's ok.
Image The number of children belonging to your sim MUST be rolled for by a dice. The first roll is your set amount! No rerolls!
Image Children born of your founding Sim must be born into your household to count for your required number!
Image Children must be named after an Easter Theme, however we'll leave you to decide what that is. Some examples, but not the only ones:
----> Naming scheme that spells EASTER with all kids.
----> Named after Easter treats.
----> Named after Easter Themes: Bunny, Egg, Candy, etc.
Image Children must be raised well. Which we'll leave for you to determine; however, what's NOT well is them being taken by a Social Worker, so don't do that.
----> Any children taken by the Social Worker will be removed from your total you need to raise. So if you rolled for 4 kids and you had 2, both of which got taken by the social worker, you'd need 4 babies all over again.
Image It should be permanently Spring! Set your seasons to be Spring only!
----> TS2: This includes University!
----> TS4: Set season length to be 28 days, and in that 28 days you can have a bonus challenge of acquiring and upgrading the Weather Machine to skip whole seasons. Doing this will net you bonus points! Or, alternatively, you can use the cheat: "seasons.set_season 3" (no quotes) and get zilch bonus points.
Image Absolutely NO Occult status allowed! Your founding Sim must be human and remain human for the duration of the challenge!
Image No life extension allowed! That means no Death Flowers for TS3 either! Another Sim can plead with the Reaper if possible, but no outright warding off accidental, premature death. If your sim should die, count up the points and gather your final score!
---->As such, the UNLUCKY TS3 trait is banned.

Image
Getting Started: Sims 2
Image Your options for starting Sim are: a new sim from CAS, a created Sim as part of a family in one of your neighborhoods, or as a townie family selecting ONE to be your founding Sim - the rest must be moved out.
Image University start is allowed and encouraged.
Image Once you have your sim selected either: use this website to roll a dice or type in "roll a dice" on google and hit search. The number you roll is the number of kids you are required to have.
Image You can pick any lot to live on, but once you've picked a lot there's no moving! No changing neighborhoods! You must remain there for the duration, so pick your neighborhood wisely!
Image The Easter Eggs, points found here on the first tab in the spreadsheet:
Spoiler:
  • Onomatology: Several pre-made Sims in the game have puns that allude to a meaning as a name. For example, Rigger Mortis and Earl E. DeMise. Befriend 4 of them. Given this may be luck of the roll in the neighborhood you are allowed to also befriend Sims who are found in previous/future iterations of the game to count for these 4; you may also recreate dead sims with those names to place in the neighborhood in hopes that your sim will run into them, as I'm aware TS2 resurrection of those sims is not safe.
  • The Pleasant Family on TV: The Pleasant family appears in commercials on TV. One of the clips depict the two sisters fighting and Daniel making out with another woman. The second commercial advertises a pizza delivery chain.
  • Freezer Bunny: It represents a pink bunny cartoon and first appears on the back of a juice carton in the community lot freezers.
  • Simpsons House: A house on the train table in FreeTime bears a striking resemblance to 742 Evergreen Terrace, the house of the Simpson family.
  • The Flying Pig: A neighborhood object released with The Sims 2: Open for Business. Appears in neighborhoods with a water tower. It also appears as a decoration on a tree in the FreeTime train table.
  • The Spaceship: A neighborhood object/event released with Pets. When a crashed spaceship is placed in the neighborhood, a spaceship arrives with a searchlight to find the crashed ship.
  • The Spaceship's Number Plate: Says 'anm8er' (It sounds like "animator"). When an abduction occurs on the lot and the UFO comes to return the Sim, the number plate can be seen.
  • Hidden Lot in Belladonna Cove: There's a hidden lot at the edge of Belladonna Cove, called Watervista Palace. It can only be seen by using the cameraman mode (Tab). It resembles Baba Yaga's hut.
  • Tree Ring: Players can read trivial information from the Tree Ring from Bon Voyage. One of the bits of trivia is a reference to all of Don Lothario's lovers; DL+CG, DL+DC, DL+NC, and DL+KL.
  • Career Reward: The Sims 2 logo can be seen on the lower part on the 3rd mat of the Medicine career reward. Get a picture for +10.
  • Maxis Outfit for Girls: In The Sims 2, there is an outfit for girls with Will Wright on front and a Maxis logo on the back. Purchase the clothing at a clothing store and get a picture in it. Cannot start in this outfit.
  • Hot Dog Stand Counter: On the counter of the hot dog stand in Apartment Life, players can see some recognizable pictures.
  • Noticeboard: On one of the noticeboards from University, if the graphic quality is set to high, players can read a pinned paper with words written in English alphabet.
  • Phone Book Cover: The phone book children use when playing chess contains a cover with alphabet on it, despite the fact there's also Simlish on it. It says a series of "asdfsf dfasd asdf."
  • Video Game: A preview of The Sims 3 in its beta version appears as a video game that is shipped with FreeTime.
  • Sir Bricks-a-Lot: One of the toys that can be crafted in Open for Business is Sir Bricks-a-Lot. This is a play on Sir Mix-a-Lot, who is an African-American rapper/songwriter.
  • Chance Cards: The chance card for the Master of Ceremonies position in the Entertainment career track refers to The Simmy Award from The Sims: Superstar.
  • Job Titles: The "Dread Pirate" job in the Adventurer career track is likely a reference to the Dread Pirate Roberts in The Princess Bride.
  • Wall Lamp: One of the wall lamps is called "Prisoner of Azkalamp". This is a reference to Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, the third novel in the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling.
  • Floor Lamp: There is a floor lamp called "Rave Against the Machine", a reference to popular American rock band Rage Against the Machine.
  • End Table: There is an 8-sided end table called 'Crazy 8'. Crazy Eights is a simple card game. This could also be a reference to the 'crazy 88 gang' from the film Kill Bill vol. 1.
  • Teasers: There are two teasers FreeTime Paintings. The first one is a poster with a green PlumbBob of The Sims 3 logo. The second one is a painting with two presets, one of which closely resembles Sunset Valley.
  • Dummies: The white bus used as a carpool in the athletic career has two Sims inside that closely resemble children from The Sims. They are not real Sims, but are "dummy" Sims, and exist only as a texture.
  • Unlikely Whale Sculpture: The sculpture's description refers to The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy, in which there is a section based on a sperm whale and a bowl of petunias being called into existence high up in the sky. Bonus cookies from Livvie if you name it and reference it throughout your challenge.
  • The Aerodynamo: The description of this item, specifically the reminder to not use it as a giant fan, refers to this scene from the animated TV series Futurama.
  • Servo: The cost of building a Servo in The Sims 2: Open for Business, §3000, is a possible reference to Tom Servo, a robot from the TV series Mystery Science Theater 3000.
  • Golden Gate Bridge: One of the wall paintings is a picture of the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco.
  • Piano: The "Chimeway & Daughters Saloon Piano" is a reference to the famous piano manufacturer Steinway & Sons.
  • Mini System "Funkadelic": There is a copy of the album "The Bends" by Radiohead on the shelf below the stereo.
  • Brick Rolled: A wall paint under the bricks section is named "Brick Rolled", a reference to Rick Rolling, a common internet phenomenon. Paint a room with it, bonus points if you keep the room painted that way for the duration of the challenge: +10 for painting the room or +25 if you keep the room painted that way from day 1.

How to Find Your Spreadsheet (Per Game)!

For my own sanity, I have done most of the point scoring and sorting on a spreadsheet. It took a lot of time, so that's why I'm only offering the lists that way. I apologize if there's any confusion, but I wanted to make it simpler. Here's how you can find the specific game on the spreadsheet:

Image

The different games are on different tabs! Feel free to download a copy to keep for your checklist! You can download by clicking "File > Download as/Save as."
Image

As questions/feedback comes in, these rules are subject to change!

If we exceed the number of kids due to last pregnancy resulting in multiples, would we lose points for those or only if we intentionally exceed (including causing a last pregnancy to have more kids than we are allowed)?

Even with multiples you'll lose points, so be careful about your fertility treatments! Any number of children - regardless of pregnancy numbers - that exceeds your dice roll will result in loss of points.

TS4: I am assuming that the no moving rule begins after settling into the challenge lot - which can't be moved into directly from creation. We have to move into an empty lot and then move to the challenge lot (Yuma Heights and Umbrage Manor both have houses on them so they have to be bulldozed before moving into). Just checking as I begin the challenge, assuming this to be the case.

Yes! I'll add a note in for TS4 players about that!

Couple of clarifying questions: Can other sims move in apart from the spouse? As long as they aren't contributing directly to finding the easter eggs?

Also, the list of TS4 Easter Eggs on the wiki seems to have been updated and expanded recently. I'm assuming that, for this challenge, we're just sticking with the Easter Eggs you've listed for points?

First question: Can other sims move in: No, as that's just a way too easy way to farm money. Marriage is the only move-in allowed! If you've already done the move-in bit, no big deal it's not a game-over scenario by any stretch.

Second Question: Yes I knew they'd be changing, so stick with the ones on the lists as there's the same amount for each game so roughly keeps things in the same ballpark points-wise. :D

A little confused, does the >1 mean having to have more than one or just one? Or you get points for each one?
