Challenge Idea: Twist of Fate - open to suggestions!

Choose two Lifetime Aspirations or Careers that could be seen as polar opposites - e.g. Criminal vs Detective/Secret Agent, Athlete vs Tech Guru, Hopeful Romantic vs Soulmate, Friend to the World vs Public Enemy, etc.

Create a Young Adult sim on the Longest lifespan, and have them complete one of these careers or aspirations. Then, for some odd reason (mid-life crisis, dramatic event, hypnosis, etc), they have a change of heart, and now have to complete the polar opposite career or aspiration with their remaining time.

Family optional unless it affects the aspiration.

Ideas for points or extra rules welcome, as this is really just a concept at this point.

VARIATION IDEAS:

ROMANCE: Star-Crossed Lovers
(with thanks/credit to IreneLudwig at The Sims Forums)

Create two young adult Sims in two separate households (both alike in dignity). If you wish, they can be neighbours, or live in different apartments within the same block, but they must not live on the same lot. Control will be switched between both.

One follows one of the Aspirations/careers, and the other follows the polar opposite.

Have the pair meet somehow, say at a party or public space, and strike up a romance - as well as discovering that they are opposites.

From here on in, their relationship has to be a total secret. If they have families, their lover can never be introduced to them. They can never been seen in public together, or have any mutual friends. They must live apart at all times, even if they choose to secretly marry. However, they can visit each other in private (either in one of their homes when they're alone, or at a secret spot hidden from the public.)

If any children are born of their union, they can only live with one parent (your choice which one - if their chosen parent didn't give birth to them, the child must be handed over as a baby or toddler). They can never be seen in public with their other parent.

If more than one child is born, they can be split between the two households in any way you choose. Children must have no mutual friends, and also cannot be seen with their siblings in public.

Once the lovers complete their aspiration / top of their career, each one secretly decides that they want to be more like their partner, and BOTH take up the opposite path without the other knowing.

How their story concludes is up to you.

LEGACY VARIANT ONE: Ten Polar Opposites
(thanks/credit to mojot89 at The Sims Forums)

Follow the normal legacy rules by Pinstar, but each generation must complete a full Twist of Fate (i.e. the two careers or aspirations) within their lifetime. If possible (expansion packs permitting), no two heirs can share the same Twist of Fate.

LEGACY VARIANT TWO: Not Following in Their Footsteps
(thanks/credit to mojot89 at The Sims Forums)

You will be splitting your ten-generation legacy into five sets of two as outlined below.

Choose ONE career or aspiration for your founder to follow, e.g. Criminal.
Their heir, in an act of rebellion, then follows the polar opposite in their lifetime, e.g. Detective or Secret Agent, in this case.

This then occurs during the remaining pairs - Generations 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 always rebel against their parents (1, 3, 5, 7 and 9).
A different polar opposite occurs with each pair if possible (expansion packs permitting).

Follow the normal legacy rules by Pinstar in all other respects.

Also thought of a "Naturally Ungifted" variant: you only play one career or aspiration, but your Sim has traits that totally contrast with what would be beneficial (e.g. Super Villain for a totally nice Sim, Serial Loves for an unflirty loner Sim, etc.)

Should we come up with a comprehensive list of opposites in the game for people to choose from?
